We’ve partnered with the SPCA of Texas to highlight a ‘Pet of the Week’ check back here to see who is available for adoption!
Meet Red! This is one of the most chill dogs in the shelter. He’s an Australian Cattle Dog mix who weighs 50 pounds and is just over 5 years of age now. Red’s a good guy all the way around. He’s friendly and affectionate and a very well-behaved young man. He’s well past the silly puppy stage, but he still likes to get out into the play yard for some exercise and exploration. He’s a great leash walker to venture out of the yard with too. Red gets along well with the other dogs in the shelter and seems to be a good fit for kiddos too. He is at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him.

He is a very majestic example of his breed, but it totally hasn’t gone to his head. He is one of the chillest dogs in the shelter and is nothing but nice to everyone. Meet Potion! He knows all the secret ingredients for a fun day in the park. Potion is a year-and-a-half old blender full of breeds, but the end result is a really cute dude. He weighs 56 pounds, so he’s kind of a larger dog. He’s covered in a white coat with big gray patches just all over. Potion is a playful guy and he’s got a lot of energy to burn. He loves to play with toys and spend time with his favorite people. Because of his size and energy level, it is advisable to bring any children under 10 years old to meet him at the shelter before an adoption takes place. Otherwise, Potion is one of those dogs who seems to get along with everybody.

Meet Benson! He is a very dapper and proper gentleman who is keen to find himself a home with a great family. Benson is a Terrier, American Pit Bull mix with a golden coat and a white underside. He has a very wise and mature face, but he’s really only 5 years old. He weighs in at 62 pounds, so he’s kind of a big guy. Benson tries to be very sophisticated, but tasty treats can get him to break character pretty quick. He likes to go for walks and does splendidly on a leash. He’s made a few doggie friends at the shelter, so he might make a good second pet. Come down to the Dallas Animal Care Center and meet him any day between noon and 6 p.m.

Meet Tera! She is quite the attractive little 5-year-old Shepherd mix who is available for adoption from the SPCA of Texas. She is very friendly and does her best to be a well-behaved young lady. Normally it doesn’t take much to get Tera up and playful, but she has recently received treatment for heartworms, so she will need to be on exercise restrictions for a little bit, then she’ll be back to her perky self in no time at all. Tera will be waiting at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary. She can be visited any day between Noon and 6 p.m.

She is an older lady at 8 years, but she’s still got a lot of living and loving to do. Daisy Mae is a find because she is house trained and even knows how to use a doggie door. She’s pretty laid back, able to get along well with other dogs even though she doesn’t rush into feisty play groups. She is currently in foster care, and her foster mom says she is very affectionate, loves to go for rides in the car and is a great walking partner. An appointment is necessary to meet her.
