This is a very busy month for cinema goers. There are a lot of good movies dropping not only in theaters but streaming services as well. Here are 5 movies you want to catch in theaters in October.
- Venom: Let There Be Carnage– 1st
Marvel fans, did you think they were slowing down the rest of the year? With the success of previous movies like Black Widow and Shang-Chi, the studios thought it was a good idea to actually move the release date up a couple weeks for the Venom sequel. Tom Hardy returns as investigative reporter Eddie Brock as he and Venom face off against Carnage, the alter ego of serial killer Cletus Kasady played by Woody Harrelson.
2. The Many Saints of Newark– 1st
Were you a fan of The Sopranos? Are you a fan of mob movies? If your answer was yes to one or both of these questions then this movie is definitely for you. The Many Saints of Newark follows young Anthony Soprano growing up in Newark and idolizing his uncle Dickie Moltisanti. As young Anthony learns the ins and outs of the crime life he will soon grow into his own and become the powerful mob boss we all know, Tony Soprano.
3. No Time To Die– 8th
The fifth and final installment of Daniel Craig’s James Bond is here. Bond is back saving the world from global destruction and looking sexy while he does it! With this being Craig’s final stint after 15 years, rumors and talk have been happening on the direction the Bond franchise will take. It seems like a great possibility of a female bond and the word is it could be passed to Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel) who plays Nomi in the movie. Is the world ready for a female Bond?! I think so!
4. Halloween Kills– 15th
I know what you’re thinking. How is Michael Myers not dead?! Or another Halloween movie?! Look, the fact of the matter is people are still loving these Halloween films. Since Jamie Lee Curtis returned for the last installment everyone was excited to see her come face to face with the serial killer once and for all, but the story continues. I can’t say this will be the last of Michael Myers but it does seem like the studios set this film up to be the final fight! Either way, this is the perfect movie to get you in the Halloween mood.
5. Dune– 22nd
This 1980s remake has been getting a lot of praise in the film festival circuit. Based off a book series, this futuristic sci-fi film has a star-studded cast including Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, and Dave Bautista. I’m not gonna lie, even with the stunning visuals and a captivating tease in the trailer, I’m still not sure what this movie will be about. My guess is a coming of age story about a boy finding himself and runs into a giant worm…I don’t know either way I’m in!
Other films to look out for: The Addams Family 2 (1st), The Harder They Fall (6th on Netflix), The Last Duel (15th), The French Dispatch (22nd), Last Night in Soho (29th), Army of Thieves (29th on Netflix), and Passing (29th on Netflix)
