Summer is coming to an end but the movies aren’t. They’re definitely a few movies to keep your eye on for the upcoming month of September and I’m here to tell you which ones. Here are the top 5 movies to look for this next month.

  1. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings– 3rd

Marvel is not slowing down one bit! Most MCU fans like myself know very little about this story (unless you read the comics). Shang-Chi is one of those hidden stories that’s being introduced to the universe. Shang-Chi is a martial arts master who has to confront his past with the mysterious Ten Rings organization. Starring Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Awkwafina (Oceans 8 & Crazy Rich Asians), and Michelle Yeoh (Crazy Rich Asians).

2. Cinderella– 3rd

For however long Cinderella has been around we’ve seen different variations of the story, but the ending is always the same. She gets the man of her dreams, the Prince. This modern version stars newcomer Camila Cabello as Cinderella and she seems to be thinking more so of her career than about a man, but he’s a Prince so she’ll give him a shot. LOL! This star-studded musical features Idina Menzel, James Corden, Minnie Driver, and Billy Porter as Fab G, your Fabulous Godmother. If you don’t have Amazon Prime, I suggest you start asking folks to borrow a login and password 🙂

3. Dear Evan Hansen– 24th

Make sure you have a box a tissues for this one cause its a tear-jerker. Ben Platt is Evan Hansen, a high school senior who suffers from social anxiety disorder. When a classmate he interacts with briefly commits suicide, the journey of accepting himself begins. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this stage play and I’m excited to see how they’ve adapted this to the big screen.

4. Malignant– 10th

Halloween is just around the corner so you know to expect some horror films this month. Written and directed by horror genius James Wan (Saw and The Conjuring franchise), Malignant may have you second guessing if what you’re dreaming is just that, a dream or reality?

5. Everybody’s Talking About Jamie– 17th

Not many have heard of this film which is all the reason I added this to the list of must sees. Based off a West End play in London, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is just INCREDIBLE. The movie is filled with a bunch of newbies who I got to sit down and chat with about this great musical (interview coming soon!). It’s about a high school senior named Jamie who has dreams of becoming a performer, but not just any performer, a drag queen. You will laugh, cry, and dance all throughout this feel good movie. Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will be released on Amazon Prime.

Other movies to look for in September: The Card Counter (10th) and Cry Macho (17th)
