Fort Worth’s Medstar Announces Multiple Calls for Heat-Related Medical Help

FORT WORTH – WBAP/KLIF – Fort Worth’s Medstar reports the intense heat of last week resulted in many calls for medical help from first responders, including 22 calls one day alone, with one patient found already in critical condition.

Medstar’s Matt Zavadsky reminds us children should be monitored carefully while outside; paying attention to their hydration and ensuring they don’t get trapped inside a vehicle, or things like old refrigerators or freezers.

Initial symptoms of heat illness include excessive perspiration, muscle cramps, and nausea.  Zavadsky reminds us to begin drinking water before we go into the heat, and continue while there.
