In a very smart move, the Texas Workforce Commission decided NOT to require unemployed Texans to search for work.
In a normal environment when you lose your job and collect unemployment you’ll need to provide the state with a few places you’ve been searching for a new job each week. Considering the massive uptick in COVID-19 cases in Texas, that requirement will not go into effect as planned on July 6th.
The new question is WHEN will the commission decide to change course again. Well, since the agency is not expected to meet again until late July, it is likely that work searches will be suspended through at least mid August.
