Top Movies to See in Theaters This December

As we wrap up a great year of cinema, December is a great month for films to gear up for the award season. Here are the top movies to check out in the month of December.

  1. Jumanji: The Next Level– 6th

I’m sure most people didn’t expect the first Jumanji movie to be such a success, but it was one of the more fun movies to come out in 2017. In Jumanji: The Next Level Spencer goes back into the game and his pals Martha, Fridge, and Bethany have to go in and bring him home. Same action and same hilarious banter from the comedic duo Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson. With the addition of a few new characters, expect the fun and kick ass film you loved from the first movie.

2. Uncut Gems– 13th

Who would’ve thought Adam Sandler would be in talks for an Oscar nomination? This is definitely one of his best performances in like forever! Uncut Gems dives deep into the betting world and how the decisions of one man can change everything. Starring alongside Sandler are Idina Menzel (Frozen), Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta, Get Out), and Kevin Garnett.

3. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker– 20th

Now I don’t know much about the Star Wars franchise but from what I’m hearing from the major fans, this will be an epic finale. You have the return of Lando, the final scenes of the late great Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, and the conclusion of an epic trilogy.

4. Cats– 20th

When the trailer dropped for this film social media went nuts. With the bizarre effects and makeup, people questioned whether or not the movie was worth seeing. With an all star ensemble including Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, James Corden, Jennifer Hudson, and more, I think it’s gonna be a musical ride of your life.

5. Bombshell– 20th

Based on true events, Charlize Theron (Atomic Blonde, Mad Max: Fury Road) is Megyn Kelly, a Fox News reporter who teams up with her fellow reporters Kayla (Margot Robbie) and Gretchen (Nicole Kidman) who are looking to take down Fox CEO Roger Ailes.

6. Little Women– 25th

Through the eyes of Director Greta Gerwig, this adaptation will definitely be one to remember. Little Women tells the story of sisterhood and life after the Civil War for a young woman, starring Meryl Streep, Emma Watson, and Timothee Chalamet.

Other movies to look out for this month: The Banker (6th), Marriage Story (6th), Spies in Disguise (25th), and Just Mercy (25th).
