Top Movies To See In August

With summer coming to an end theirs still a few big blockbuster hits to see. Here are the top movies to look out for in August.

  1. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw– 2nd

A lot of the Fast and Furious cast members, particularly Tyrese Gibson were not too fond of this decision to do a spin off, causing a big fuss on social media between Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, and Dwayne Johnson. With its release right around the corner it looks to be the biggest action movie of the year. Starring alongside Johnson is Jason Statham reprising his role as Deckard Shaw. This all star cast is rounded out with Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby and Helen Mirren.

2. Dora and the Lost City of Gold– 9th

Looks like Dora is starting high school in this live action remake. On her school trip Dora and a few of her classmates find themselves in the jungle to discover a lost Incan civilization. Starring Eva Longoria, Michael Peña, Eugenio Derbez, and Isabela Moner as Dora.

3. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark– 9th

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will probably be one of those movies that stick with you after leaving the theater. Based on a book written by Alvin Schwartz, the movie set place in a small town where a group of kids find a book written by a young girl named Sarah Bellows. She has told her horrific childhood stories in this found book and it seems that her stories are coming to life.

4. Good Boys– 16th

This movie may be about pre-teens but its NOT a pre-teen movie! Produced by Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express, Superbad, and Neighbors), I guess you can say this is basically Superbad but with tweens. Max gets invited to his first middle school kissing party, problem is Max has no idea how to kiss. With the help of his two best friends Thor and Lucas, the boys do whatever it takes to figure out how to kiss, and get to the big party.

5. Angel Has Fallen– 23rd

This movie has gone under the radar a bit but the first two movies were so good I had to add this one to the list. Gerard Butler is back as Secret Service agent Mike Banning! When an assassination attempt on President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) fails, Banning is taken into custody and accused of the attempt. He escapes and looks to allies to discover the truth and attempt to save the world…again! Also starring Jada Pinkett Smith and Nick Nolte.

Other movies to catch in theaters: The Kitchen (9th), Brian Banks (9th), Blinded By the Light (14th), The Angry Birds Movie 2 (14th), 47 Meters Down: Uncaged (16th), Ready or Not (21st)
