Top Movies To See In Theaters This May

May is considered the kick off month to all the summer blockbuster movies. Throughout the years the month fluctuate but I think this year is one for the books. I usually do five movies to see but I had to add a couple more to the list because its just too good of a month! Which movie(s) are you gonna check out in May?!

  1. The Hustle– 10th

Now here’s a duo I never thought I needed until now. Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson star in this hilarious comedy of two scam artist teaming up to take down a millionaire. The Hustle is an adapted film from the 1980s classic Dirty Rotten Scoundrels starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine.

2. Pokemon Detective Pikachu– 10th

As a person who grew up during the Pokemon era, I was not expecting Pikachu to sound like this! It seems Warner Bros are taking a different spin on this popular live action animated film. Ryan Reynolds who is the voice of Pikachu goes on a quest alongside Tim played by Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) to find his missing father. Critics are saying this film is as weird and entertaining as the trailer makes it out to be.

3. John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum -17th

This journey started with the killing of his dog, now two movies later Keanu Reeves is back as John Wick and teaming up with one of the hottest actresses in the game Halle Berry. Wick has a $14 million target on his back and has to fight his way through New York with the help of Sofia (Berry).

4. Aladdin– 24th

First up on the list for Disney’s classic remakes for 2019 is Aladdin. I think there’s mixed feelings on this one but I’ll say I’m super excited to see this! It tend to look better and better as Disney release more footage of the film. I think the biggest challenge for the movie is Will Smith’s portrayal of the Genie. The iconic character originally played by Robin Williams, Smith will have some big shoes to fill.

5. Godzilla: King of the Monsters– 31st

Godzilla becomes the humans ally and fights the 3 headed monster to save all of humanity. Yep! You’ll definitely need popcorn for this one!

6. Rocketman– 31st

Elton John is a once in a lifetime performer. He had a very unique sense of style and his fans loved it! Rocketman is the story of his life, fame, and struggle to finding his sexuality. Starring Taron Egerton (Kingsman 1& 2) as Elton John, this film is promised to bring the bizarre and realness of his life.

7. Ma– 31st

This is Oscar winning Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures) like you’ve never seen her. Ma is a chilling film about a lonely middle-age woman who befriends a group of teenagers and allows them to throw parties at her house. They shortly find out that something isn’t right about her.

Other movies to look out for in May: Long Shot (3rd), Brightburn (24th), and Booksmart (24th)
